1,1'-Diethyl-2,2'-cyanine iodide is used to inhibit 1-methyl-4-phenylpyridinium (MPP+), toxic metabolite of 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine that induces apoptosis in cerebellar granule neurons (CGNs).

Applications
1,1′-Diethyl-2,2′-cyanine iodide is used to inhibit 1-methyl-4-phenylpyridinium (MPP+), toxic metabolite of 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine that induces apoptosis in cerebellar granule neurons (CGNs).

Solubility
Soluble to 10 mM in dimethyl sulfoxide.

Notes
Keep container tightly sealed. Store in cool, dry conditions in well sealed containers. Incompatible with oxidizing agents. It is sensitive to light.
