Description

This Thermo Scientific brand product was originally part of the Alfa Aesar product portfolio. Some documentation and label information may refer to the legacy brand. The original Alfa Aesar product / item code or SKU reference has not changed as a part of the brand transition to Thermo Scientific.

Applications
Dithranol was used as a matrix in MALDI TOF mass spectrometry measurements of sol-gel films for DNA microarray applications. It was also used as matrix in matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization-mass spectrometry (MALDI-MS) and liquid secondary ion-tandem mass spectrometry (LSI-MS/MS) for the analysis of synthetic polymers to generate values for the average mass and the mass of the end groups. It was also used in MALDI-MS for direct detection of condensed tannins in bark. It is successfully used for the treatment of psoriasis.

Solubility
Insoluble in water. Soluble in acetic acid, chloroform (20 mg/mL), acetone, benzene, solutions of alkali hydroxides, fixed oil. Slightly soluble in 95% ethanol, alcohol, ether, and glacial acetic acid.

Notes
Store in cool, dry place in a well sealed container. Store away from oxidizing agents.
