Applications
,2-Dimethylbutanoyl chloride is a reagent that is used in the synthesis of 4α,5-Dihydro Simvastatin, the drug, is sold under the trade name Zocor. A competitive inhibitor of HMG-CoA reductase. A synthetic analog of Lovastatin. Antilipemic.

Solubility
Reacts with water. Soluble in chloroform and ethyl acetate.

Notes
Moisture sensitive. Store away from water/moisture, strong bases and oxidizing agents. Keep the container tightly closed and place it in a cool, dry and well ventilated condition. Store under inert gas. Keep ignition sources away. Protect from electrostatic charges.
