Användningsområde
1,2-propandiol används i frostskyddsmedel och avisningslösningar för bilar, båtar och flygplan. Det används också för att skapa ofarlig, konstgjord rök för tränings- och teaterändamål. Det används som ett fuktighetsbevarande lösningsmedel och konserveringsmedel i livsmedel. Det fungerar som lösningsmedel för färger och plaster. Det används också inom veterinärmedicin som oral behandling för hyperketonemi hos idisslare. Utöver detta reagerar den med propylenoxid för att framställa oligomerer.
