Description

Description

Description: The AcV5 antibody reacts with the gp64 envelope protein of the baculovirus Autographa californica (AcMNPV). Applications Reported: The AcV5 antibody has been reported for use in immunoblotting (WB). AcV5 can be used in identifying virally-infected insect cells and biochemical analysis of the gp64 protein. Applications Tested: The AcV5 antibody has been tested by immunoblotting (WB) of baculovirus infected insect cells. It is recommended that the antibody be carefully titrated for optimal performance in the assay of interest. Purity: Greater than 90%, as determined by SDS-PAGE. Aggregation: Less than 10%, as determined by HPLC. Filtration: 0.2 μm post-manufacturing filtered.

Baculoviruses are known to infect invertebrates, with over 600 species having been described. Immature (larval) forms of moth species are the most common hosts, but these viruses have also been found infecting sawflies, mosquitoes, and shrimp. Although baculoviruses are capable of entering mammalian cells in culture, they are not known to be capable of replication in mammalian or other vertebrate animal cells. The gp64 envelope protein is essential for virus infectivity and is expressed on the surface of baculovirus-infected cells within six hours of infection.
