Provides a convenient and rapid method for the isolation and purification of total DNA from microorganisms in soil and sediment samples, such as bacteria, fungi, and algae

  • All types of soil samples can be processed, including common soil samples and difficult soil samples with a high humic acid content such as compost and manure
  • Optimized protocol to remove excess water can be used to evaluate sediment samples with high water content, such as those taken from ponds or lakes
  • Kit includes specialized solutions and bead tubes which remove all traces of humic acids through chemical and physical separation and lysis procedures
  • A simple and rapid spin column procedure using a proprietary resin to further purify the DNA
  • All humic acid substances and PCR inhibitors are removed before the DNA isolation procedure
  • Fast and easy procedure can be completed in 30 minutes
  • Protocol does not require use of hazardous chemicals such as phenol and chloroform or require an additional time-consuming step of ethanol precipitation to recover DNA during the purification process
  • Purified DNA can be used for numerous downstream applications for the quantification and analysis of DNA, including PCR and QPCR
