Provides a rapid method for the isolation and purification of total RNA and DNA simultaneously from all microorganisms found in environmental water samples, including bacteria, fungi, and algae

  • Suitable for use with small and large samples of water from a variety of sources, including ocean, pond, drinking water, and wastewater
  • Optimized column, solution components, and user friendly protocol are provided for simultaneous isolation and purification of DNA and RNA
  • All RNA species are isolated, in size ranges from large mRNA and ribosomal RNA to microRNA and siRNA
  • Filter technology is used for the collection of microorganisms from water samples
  • “Bead-beating” procedure helps break open the cells and allows for efficient lysis without the use of chemicals
  • The same spin column can be used to simultaneously isolate both DNA and RNA or one nucleic acid, based on preference
  • No additional step to concentrate RNA and DNA prior to isolation
  • Rapid purification process is completed in 45 minutes
  • No special equipment or hazardous chemicals are required
