Description
- Simply add a drop of the hydrochlorid acid solution (pH ≤ 1) to the test paper and read immediately
- High concentrations of fluorides are indicated by the appearance of a yellowish-white spot
- Lesser amounts of flourides are indicated by a yellowish-white ring
- Complex-bound fluoride ions react in the same manner as free fluoride ions
- Limit of sensitivity: 20mg/L (ppm)
- Interferences:
- Chlorates and bromates; interference is eliminated by adding sodium dithionite (Na2S2O4)
- Sulfate in very large amounts; interference can be eliminated by adding barium chloride
