Description
BODIPY FL GTP-Îł-S binds to GTP-binding proteins. To create this fluorescent nucleotide, the BODIPY FL fluorophore was linked through the Îł-thiol of GTP-Îł-S. The fluorescence of BODIPY FL GTP-Îł-S is quenched approx. 90% relative to that of the free dye, but may be recovered on binding to G-proteins. In addition to its potential use for binding studies, the BODIPY FL GTP-Îł-S thioether is an important new substrate for Fhit, a member of the histidine triad superfamily of nucleotide-binding proteins.
