Description
The Human NRG1beta-1 (Hu NRG1) ELISA quantitates Hu NRG1 in human serum, plasma, or cell culture medium. The assay will exclusively recognize both natural and recombinant Hu NRG1. Principle of the method The Human NRG1 solid-phase sandwich ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) is designed to measure the amount of the target bound between a matched antibody pair. A target-specific antibody has been pre-coated in the wells of the supplied microplate. Samples, standards, or controls are then added into these wells and bind to the immobilized (capture) antibody. The sandwich is formed by the addition of the second (detector) antibody, a substrate solution is added that reacts with the enzyme-antibody-target complex to produce measurable signal. The intensity of this signal is directly proportional to the concentration of target present in the original specimen. Rigorous validation Each manufactured lot of this ELISA kit is quality tested for criteria such as sensitivity, specificity, precision, and lot-to-lot consistency. See manual for more information on validation.
Neuregulin-1 beta 1/NRG1 beta 1 is one of many soluble and transmembrane NRG1 isoforms. All family members share an EGF-like domain that interacts with the ErbB family of tyrosine kinase receptors. NRG1 isoforms can be classified into type I (neu differentiation factor, NDF; heregulin, HRG; acetylcholine receptor inducing activity, ARIA), type II (glial growth factor, GGF) and type III (sensory and motor neuron-derived factor, SMDF) isoforms. NRG1 regulates multiple nervous system functions including neurotransmitter expression, axon guidance, synapse formation and plasticity, glial cell development, and axon myelination. It regulates heart morphogenesis and contractility and also plays a cardioprotective role following tissue injury. Multiple polymorphisms and aberrant expression of NRG1 isoforms are associated with the development of schizophrenia and many cancers.Specifications
