Description
Detect enterotoxin type A of Clostridium perfringens with Thermo Scientific™ Oxoid™ Clostridium perfringens Enterotoxin type A Reversed Passive Latex Agglutination Kit (PET-RPLA). The technique of reversed passive latex agglutination (RPLA) enables soluble antigens such as bacterial toxins to be detected in an agglutination assay.
Food poisoning can result from eating foods contaminated with Clostridium perfringens. The ingested cells multiply in the patient’s intestines and produce spores. The production of enterotoxin is associated with this spore-forming process. It is, therefore, important to detect the enterotoxin in fecal specimens obtained from the patient or in the culture fluid of the bacterial isolates.
Use Clostridium perfringens Enterotoxin type A RPLA test for simple and reliable detection of Clostridium perfringens in fecal samples or culture filtrates.
- Simple – easy to implement
- Visual – easy to read results
The direct detection of C.perfringens enterotoxins in feces is the most reliable method due to the much larger amount of toxin formed in vivo. The culture method is less reliable due to problems in encouraging C. perfringens to produce sufficient toxins in artificial media.
Reversed passive latex agglutination (RPLA) has been reported to be a reliable method for the detection of C.perfringens enterotoxin.1
