Consider sample volume, available freezer space and workflow needs. Deepwell plates suit larger volumes or pellet collection, while low-profile plates optimise storage density. Choose the well format that aligns with mixing, freezing and downstream handling requirements.

Polypropylene is commonly used for its chemical resistance and suitability for freezing and storage. Polystyrene may be chosen when clarity is required. Thermo Scientific Nunc, Corning and Axygen frequently use polypropylene for robust sample preservation.
